Colour Theory - Solo Exhibition at OSKA

Lisa Denyer is an abstract painter based at at Summerhall Studios in Edinburgh. Her vibrant paintings are developed using paper cut outs, testing geometric elements in variations in response to spontaneous gestural marks. Her interest lies in creating a sense of balance or tension in the compositions, playfully experimenting with notions of foreground and background.

Her influences range from the natural world to the urban environment. Everyday visuals from architecture, fashion and digital aesthetics infiltrate the work. Recently she has been inspired by the new clothing collection at OSKA, which in turn looks to the women of the Bauhaus as a source of inspiration.

Colour Theory brings together a combination of previous paintings and new work made over the ten months Lisa had lived and worked in Edinburgh.

Lisa has previously exhibited at Yantai Art Museum, China, The National Museum of Poland, Gdańsk, Volume, Berlin, Messums, Harrogate, and Rebecca Hossack Gallery, London. Her work is held in the Priseman-Seabrook Collection, as well as private collections in the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, USA, and France.
